As a freestyle scooter rider, it is very important to develop your own style. Everything has style whether it is music, movies, or video games. A world where everybody does the same thing the same way would be absolutely boring! Setting your own style is important to do in any freestyle extreme sport. Getting your own style in terms of riding a kick scooter is also important. How does one go about getting your own style?
First, do not force your own style. Do not copy somebody’s style but do whatever it is you feel is natural. It might be helpful to watch a lot of kick scooter riding videos and piece together what you think is cool. Another thing is deciding how you want to express yourself as a person. Whatever you feel like your personality is, try to reflect it in your riding style.
Trick selection is one of the biggest things in how a freestyle scooter rider will develop his or her’s style. There are certain “park” tricks that are usually done in a skate park. These “park” tricks are along the lines of tricks you would normally do on a quarter pipe. These tricks are Bri-Flips, back flips, front flips, and turn downs. These tricks are so cool in the right setting. The opposite would be a street rider.
Overall, developing your own style in the freestyle scooter scene is an absolute must. It is boring to watch a rider try to reenact another rider. It is important to make sure you do what you want to do and not what others want you to do. It would be a bland world if you did. Be creative and have fun.
