Kick Scooter vs Motor Scooter

It’s a question that has plagued mankind since the dawn of time. I believe it was Shakespeare who once asked, “Shall thy scooter be of kick or of motor origins?” While motorized scooters have a “lazy” quality that might attract a certain kind of rider, there is no doubt that kick scooters are the better option. They are healthier, more reliable, more practical, and honestly, just cooler. Kick scooters offer way more benefits than motorized scooters ever could, and I think it’s time for everyone to put down the gas canteens, put down the electric batteries, and use their own energy to get from one place to another. Have you seen Planet of the Apes? Clearly there are other species ready to take over the moment we can’t get up from our La-Z-Boy recliners.

Here’s why kick scooters win

Riding a kick scooter burns major calories. Like other alternative modes of travel, kick scooters require the rider to actually put forth some effort to move. With technology overtaking our society, there are less and less reasons for people to go outside. If watching bad movies on Netflix was a mainstream job, no one would leave the house. Kick scooters give you the opportunity to get outside and exercise while having fun. What could be better?

Very loud and pumping out exhaust fumes turns your scooter riding experience into a pollution attack on all the sense. Electric scooters are better, but you still need to waste electricity and charge batteries. It’s easier than gas, however your electric bill will haunt you. Both motorized scooters will end up costing you more than what they are worth. Do you know what’s free? You pushing a kick scooter around town.

Kick scooters are light and can often fold to become an even smaller contraption for storage or to carry. Motorized scooters are heavy and have to usually find a place to park. You can do impressive tricks and jumps with kick scooters. If you’re lucky, you can get the motorized scooter to stay upright on its flimsy kickstand.

You look normal

Have you ever seen someone standing still on a motorized scooter? It’s unnatural. When someone is in motion (not including a car), you expect to see parts of them in motion propelling their ride. Pumping their legs, pushing of the ground, anything besides standing still. Riding on a motorized scooter just looks weird. In terms of uncomfortable viewing, it is barely a step above a segway.
